Energy resources

I think one of the largest problems facing society is the lack of energy resources. The Energy Information Administration’s website (http://www.eia.doe.gov/) gives startling statistics regarding our energy consumption including that fact that we consume 24% of the world petroleum but only produce 10% of it. IT also lists the  other types of energy sources such as nuclear and alternative and renewable fuels. Civil society can address the problem by raising funds for research to find more, less costly forms of energy and raise awareness of the problem. The government has so many other problems to address and frequently politician are so politically motivated that they cannot see through their party lines to see the facts.
