AKA Hails Obama’s Victory

By ckelly08

My organization, the American Bar Association did not post anything about the outcome of the election. However, my sorority, a non-profit organization, did issue a press release entitled “Sorority Hails Barack Obama’s History-Making Victory”  The first words of the article are ” Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority says’ change has arrived.”  It goes on to explain that our sorority recently honored President-elect Obama with an award over the summer time.  The President of my sorority, Barbara McKinzie, addressed a crowd at an Atlanta church emphasizing the historical imortance of this moment. She also explained how the sorority will help to restore the country and its middle class. She expressed her excitement that the new administrations programs mirror the focus of our sorority which is economically strengthening the middle class. Mrs. McKinzie finally explained that although the sorority will support the President-elect it will also monitor his agenda. The actual press release is here: http://www.aka1908.org/pdf/election_statement.pdf

After looking briefly through the AKA press I found it very interesting the Eleanor Roosevelt was an honorary member of your sorority. I also thought it was encouraging that your sorority is so active in recognizing reputable work by giving out awards like Anna Eleanor Roosevelt Medallion of Honor. I also agree that although everyone is very excited and hopeful about President-elect Obama that we still need to remain active and aware of his policies to make sure that his they truly reflect what is best for America.
